Bonsaime (BM): How to discover the world of bonsai?
Andrés Bicocca (AB)
:
The first time I saw a bonsai was in a business that was on the corner of my school, I always stared with their mouths open, thanks to this business very well located in the heart of the city of Mendoza, was released on bonsai in my town. You could say that thanks to this store bonsai stayed etched into my subconscious the idea, because after 10 years was when he woke that curiosity, the need to create and the urge to investigate what is for me the bonsai, as is done, why and so on.
Thanks to the Internet and some Spanish magazines I could take my first steps.

BM: What was your first bonsai?, Remember?
AB: I did some seedlings with seeds, but when the technique of yamadori get my hands through a magazine, do not delay in giving away the nursery and fill the space with plants drawn from nature, and since then only work for myself and recovered plants of my land, I remember one winter day walking near my house I saw lying in a Dumpster and an olive tree without thinking I went head first into the container, this plant still have it is one of my favorites you can say that
this was my first bonsai.

BM: What is your favorite kind of bonsai?
AB: The olive tree.

BM: What is culture technique for creating your bonsai?
AB: Yamadoris I use so much wood working (which is what excites me) all my trees have been removed, rooted, cultivated and worked for me, I’ve never bought a tree for me this is the sense of creating a bonsai, feel from the principle, see where he lived, extract it and admiring the marks of time, brands that tell stories, stories I’ve been to my house and I share, now depend on me these stories, to stay alive.

BM: What bonsai masters have influenced your style?
AB: I like many works of Spanish masters, Angel Mota, Erasmo Garcia, Antoni Payeras, David Benavente and certainly Japan Masahiko Kimura.

BM: Your collection of bonsai, how many trees do you have?
AB: About 25 bonsai trees.

BM: What is your favorite bonsai tree?
AB: An olive tree, I got the first of May 2005, has a base of 44cm, 70 cm high and the cup 62 cm in diameter.

Andrés Bicocca

BM: A bonsai tree that you find admirable?
AB:
It is a copy of ullastre called “EL CAMPEON (THE CHAMPION)” by Angel Mota, most of all because it was the first copy of ullastre gave that talk in many competitions and also the first to win international awards in Europe.

BM: What are your plans for the future?
AB: For now my projects come first, and most of all keep enjoying the bonsai and would love to continue teaching, is what I like, the cutting of dead wood and transform plants without a lot of qualities in works of art.

BM: Do you have any idea or proposal to promote bonsai in Argentina?
AB: I think in Argentina the bonsai is on track, lack enthusiasm and motivate people, a good way is organizing events and bringing international teachers, but that costs a lot here, Argentina is a country where everything costs, as there are people who doing wonderful things for the bonsai and make large advances.
